The EKBC Modem relies on the use of a telephone line for digital data transfer and converts digital data to analog for transmission through PSTN. The design, development and execution were undertaken by the ASM team.
The EKB Modem has a Full Duplex operation with maximum speed of 300 baud/second and V.21 Standard Modulation technique: FSK. The operational frequency can transmit between 980Hz and 1180Hz and receive between 1650 Hz and 1850 Hz. The EKBC Modem Card contains two independent channels in single Euro card to be fitted in the Line Interface Unit (replacing any one of Line Cards without modification).
The EKB Modem is fitted inside the EKB Equipment with two pin terminal blocks fitted at the back panel for access to telephone line. Either EKBC or EKB can dialup the other end by telephone call and circuit may be put into / out-of data transmission and reception mode by mutual consent through simple changeover switches. |
