By a Correspondent New Delhi, Mar 29
Computervision Corporation announced that a memorandum of understanding with the Aeronautical Development Agency ADA, an Indian Government institution, has been signed. This memorandum of understanding defines the three specific areas of business within which Computervision and the Aeronautical Development Agency will cooperate.
These three areas of business include the development of mutually agrees projects within the mechanical design and manufacturing field based on Computervision's leading CAD/CAM/CAE Software - CADDS 5, the remarketing of software developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency and , the exclusive provision of Technical Support to Computervision's sales and marketing channels in India.
"This innovative agreement brings many opportunities to both organizations," said Russ Plantizer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Computervision Corporation, currently visiting Delhi to finalize this agreement. "This is a win-win situation for all parties." Computervision gains access to the Indian market through working with an organization that is heavily involved in CAD/CAM and, has built up many years of experience both as a traditional user in their advanced fighter aircraft design work as well as and application software developer. At the same time, the Aeronautical Development Agency now has to access to worldwide markets through Computervision's sales channels.
The importance of this agreement is Computervision's strong position in the aerospace market worldwide, which follows on the heals of a recent dollar US 21.4 million software, consultancy and services order from UK - based Rolls-Royce Aerospace Group. India, through Hindustan Aeronautics and more recently the Aeronautical Development Agency has a long tradition in the aerospace industry. ADA with their own software development originally designed for use in the Indian light combat aircraft (LCA) programme includes software applications such as sheet metal design, aerodynamic analysis and composite material modeling. Computervision will be working with ADA to integrate these applications into the CADDs product line and remarket them through their worldwide sales channels.
This agreement also includes the provision of an enhanced and increased level of technical support for Computervision's current installed base in India as well as support to CV's sales ad marketing channels. This support, to be provided by ADA, which will focus on mechanical engineering design and manufacturing, will be available through Computervision's authorized distributor channels.
Computervision have also recently signed an agreement with Advanced Synergic Microsystems Ltd (ASML) to become an authorized Computervision master distributor in India. ASML, based in Bangalore will manage the overall sales and marketing of Computervision's CADDS/MEDUSA software applications for the mechanical manufacturing industry sector. ASML, while managing certain sales directly will continue to utilize existing resellers for example: IDM and WIPRO.
Since signing its first order in India in 1987, Computervision has maintained a steady growth in this growing, dynamic market. This agreement is testament to Computervision's continued to commitment to the Indian market.
